A mixed bag of thoughts
September 15, 2005
Well yesterday had several things that I can talk about, do lets start somewhere near the beginning…. In work I was involved in a team meeting which resulted in everyone becoming quite excited about the weblog project (Of which I am still amazed that I am getting paid to work on this project). There is a possibility that I might be able to work towards an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification), something which I had previously lost hope of ever achieving (due to my previous job). After work it was Rugby practice, which Ieuan decided that he did not want to do. This is awkward for me as I do not want to push Ieuan into doing something that he does not want to do, but I can see the obvious benefits in him having involvement in a regular group activity outside of school. However there are issues for him around his general level of fitness compared to the other children. Ieuan decided to go in the end, and due to this gave me one very funny memory to treasure. Near the end of the practice session the team played a game of British Bulldogs (This involves a game of Team Chasing, until there is only one person left). Each child wears a velcro tag on a belt which when pulled means that the child has been caught. Well Ieuan decided to just stand there and as soon as a child went to run towards him, promptly passed him both velcro tags. I was forced to endure a viewing of Twin Towns last night, one of Heulwen’s ideas, to give Shel an ‘impression’ of Swansea. the only fun bit of the film in my mind is trying to guess where the various bits of scenery are in Swansea, especially the opening credits to the film, although I do have to admit the end scene is also very good, with the combined choirs all singing on the end of Mumbles Pier. This basically resulted in me going to bed at gone 12am and finally getting to sleep after 1am. And to top it all off Shel missed a Red Sox’s game
Setting up this blog
September 13, 2005
Today I had the idea of setting up this blog and placing all my notes from my shamanic experiences into it. Therefore any entry older than this one is cut and paste from a text file that I kept and does not wquite fit the way that blogs are written. However i think the overall feel of the site is good and ther is a lot of information that will hopefully benefit someone who might be interested in shamanism. I hope that path that you chose to walk is one that you always look at from wondering, amaze filled eyes.
These Carpenter’s Hands
September 11, 2005
Well Yesterday afternoon we went to a DIY store to find a piece of wood to cover the side of the bath, EASY, one piece, just cut it to size and slip it into place. What could go possibly wrong. Well for a start its a case of the panel of wood is too big for the boot of the car. So plan B, a real purpose built bath panel, £40 thank you very much, so plan C, lots of little bits of wood, brilliant idea, all it takes is for me to make a frame and add a load of strips of tongue and grove wood and hey presto a bath panel…….. So at about 9pm in the evening with bleeding fingertips I stood back from my masterpiece with a sense of pride and achievement, and who really cares if its a bit wobbly……
SHEL Countdown: 73 hours and counting
September 10, 2005
Well in 73 hours the Great Shel of the american continent will land on the shores of South Wales, well actually she will be arriving on a train via London. As you would expect with any visit to the country by a dignatry everything has to be perfect. So Heulwen and me are busy knocking down the old house and building a brand new one (well I reckon it was easier than cleaning the house). Its a bit silly really, but as the day draws ever closer both Shel and Heulwen are becoming more and more nervous, which is resulting in them having shorter fuses. Me, I am just trying to be helpful and shut the hell up (always a good policy). So the bath is now so clean that you can eat your dinner out of it, which is funny really as I do that often (Yea of course standing in the shower whilst eating ‘beans on toast’ that would be a sight to behold). Well back to the grindstone, perhaps I can returf the lawn ready for Shel……….
Well the gig is up!

I just told Heulwen (my partner) about the weblog, mainly as I wanted to see if the blogmap in the sidebar was working and my cache was still showing the old page. So I will have to nip into the archives and delete all those nasty comments I made about her (As if I even would, lol) Oooo I just heard Ieuan stomping around the landing, so he is awake and probably in a mood as usual. Catch you all later… …Now what can I add next to the site…
European trivia & Wireless internet access
September 9, 2005
I have been hitting my head against the proverbial wall today trying to think of general knowledge questions for an interactive quiz that I am working on for SCVS (the organisation I am working for). I found one website which had some triva questions and I only scored 1/10. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but it proved that I have been blissfully ignorant of anything further away from my home than, say, 10 miles. I also managed to buy a wireless card for the home laptop, to replace the one I broke in a ‘FIT OF RAGE’. So I will be ‘Up to my elbows’ in figuring out the network again Until later
Being paid to blog! – How Cool is that?
September 7, 2005
Well I am presently on a ‘training’ day to help set up a pilot project that will look at the educational impact of web logs in various settings. The specific project that I will be assisting is one in which trainee community workers are given access to the web log to write about their experiences and to reflect on their work. Well this is only my coffee break so I had better go back to the training……
