The Meaning of Life

Everyone sooner or later tries to take on this question.   At some point in your life you will be sitting there on some hill, or under some tree and you will wonder about the universe and you r place within it. 

Well I am sorry matey, its not that complicated so get off your arse and stop wasting time.

The answer is simple.

We are here to make babies, to procreate, to pass on our genes to the next generation. 

There is no greater purpose or function, and if anyone choses to deny this then they are denying their own existence and even the existence of the whole universe.  Any species that choses to not procreate will soon die out, thats evolution in action, a bad design will die out, the good designs will survive.

Now do not get me wrong, I agree that there are other things in life, but I am, for the moment stripping them all away to the basics.  We can exist in harmony with the Great Mother and the Great Father, but we have to also fulfill our part in the great tapestry that is life.

I accept that there are those that chose a life of celibacy, wanting to become more spiritual perhaps, but i am sorry, that is not my chosen path, and I feel that their sacrifice will, ultimately lead to an unfulfilled life, when on their death bed, they have only Great Deeds and statues, and possibly a few books written in solitude.  I weap a tear for them all, for I have a son, and there is nothing greater than to know that my purpose on this planet was to help create him.

The spartans had it right, only those with living sons were sent, their purpose in life, was essentially, complete……..

What is love

Well the wikipedia says this on love

On the other hand Robert A Heinlien tried to pin it down in several of his books but never actually managed to answer it to the complete satisfaction of the reader. He said that

“Love is the condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own.”

Its not a bad stab at the subject but still it does not cover everything. We also have so many different types of love, the love of a parent for a child, and vice versa, the love of a sibling, the love of a friend, we have physical love and the love of a life long companion. So exactly how can we go about quantifying these to come up with some guidelines, as we all seem to blunder around with little or no direction when it come love.

Reflections in the early morning

Sometimes in the silence of the early morning, before even a word is uttered things seem clearer that later in the day when the noise that is life wakes up.  I sit here thinking about my life at present and cannot see to far ahead.  It would seem that I have to fight for every inch of it at present.  Every action I take is being observed and criticised, when all I want to do is live my life peacefully and quietly.  I have never been one for ‘rocking the boat’ or ‘upsetting the apple cart’ but in the end there is only so much a person is willing to do, only so much they are willing to take before they stand up and refuse to budge another inch, if not then they become lifeless shells, automatons to the wishes of others.

This week sees the start of my split shift work pattern and it will probably become a challenge to mantain every aspect of my life in a fashion similar to before.  Some things will have to give way.  I have already accepted that I can no longer visit friends on the weekend, my D&D sessions will never happen again in the same way as they used too, unless they involve my son (which I dearly hope for).  I hope to use the weeknights to rebuild any form of social life, the afternoons to do whatever is needed domestically and the weekends to spend with my son.  there are still challenges ahead, still arguements to come and hills to climb…….

Sorry for the slightly depressing post, now its time for life to get noisey again and wake up, I have a house to clean afterall……

I heard today that the fourth series of Doctor Who has been confirmed, even before the start of the third series which is due to start on Saturday the 31st of March.

TMNT

Well I went to the cinema yesterday (first time in ages).  It was a totally random thing too do, Ieuan and I were walking into town and passed the cinema and saw that TMNT was showing advance previews, so we did our shopping and went back to watch the film.

The bit that I will remember is when Donatelo is working from the sewer as an ‘Internet Tech support’ ,  Ieuan and I just looked at each other and laughed.  I think my job has gained even more ‘cool’ points now……

While waiting for June for my last session of youth work at Bontawe Community house I was a little bit bored so started taking silly photos

In my day i would of been glad if me dad gave me a pair of second hand trainers, and even then I would have to of been beaten around the head for a month just for the cheek of asking (needs to be said in yorkshire accent really)

Photos of my altar

Below are a series of photos that I took today of my altar. It was sort of a weird moment as I finally finished setting it up to the way that I like it. I hope you all enjoy the photos, I was nearly in tears after setting it up. It has been such a long time since I have done something even slightly shamanic. It now feels the way i wanted it to feel when I am in the front room, peaceful, quiet, even a little bit sacred. I wanted one room in the house where there was no noise, no distractions, a place where you could, at least for a few minutes, get away from the everyday world.
