The Big Pit – Part 2
May 20, 2007
The journey down the pit shaft in the cage was entertaining with our guide and other guides joking to us about losing children and the number of deaths
My son tried to drive off with some stuff
I then started snapping pics of the surrounding area

Then I started getting artistic (its an illness I have, I think I can take good pictures)
Then I got over it and took some more pictures of the boy going around the old showers in the museum

ONe picture of me, which is what all the women want to see
And then it was off to the highest Assda in Wales to do a bit of shopping
Then the long journey home where I started getting artistic again with the photos

The Big Pit – PArt 1
May 19, 2007
Well today I went on a trip with my Father to the Big Pit. Just me, my Dad and my son. The oddest thing is I actually really enjoyed myself.
What follows is a sort of photo diary of the day……
Below are the photos of us in the carpark, having something to eat before we enter the Museum.

At the top of the shaft we were given helmet, lamps and safety equipment
At this point I was not allowed to take my phone down the pit in case there was an accident…….
Read more tomorrow, lol.

Ubuntu and Beryl
May 11, 2007
Well I am now a complete, certified Geek, Dork and Nerd.
I have just finished a few minor alterations to the ‘fstab’ with ‘ntfs-config’ and now my hard drives are fully r/w in both linux and windows.
Now if you understand the above jargon then you can be a geek like me. If not then there is hope for you yet.
I have been getting progressively fed up of windows as an operating system, especially the way it is so ‘In your face’ and domineering of the market. Also it is a very resource hungry beast that leaves older computers behind. Hence when my son had a computer of my mother (my old one in fact) then I took the chance to install ubuntu on it, perhaps making it a better machine. I was impressed.
So now a few days later I now have ubuntu with beryl 3D running on my computer. I also have firefox and flock, open office, bittornado and VLC player, which makes the computer almost feel like I home, wrapped in a blanket of familiarity.
I will admit its a bit of hard work, but worth it in the end. Now for some type of virus program….
Beltane – May 1st?
May 3, 2007
Well how did I celebrate the festival of Beltane. The day that the Bel gives back the earth into the care of the Earth Goddess.
Lets see. Tuesday, mmmm. I watched Heroes. Not exactl that much of a celebration. I also made myself a strange pasta concoction that I enjoyed eating. And that was about it. So when I get a chance I need to spend some time gathering ny thoughts about this special time.
